Our objective is to build a vessel that delivers the range, safety, and stable navigation equivalent to the most prestigious full-displacement models. The Alpha 50 LR is engineered to withstand severe storms with winds and waves exceeding 5 meters, surpassing the requirements of the European CE Category A certification, all while offering the added advantage of 15-knot cruise speeds.

This approach stems from a deep analysis of the performance and equipment of pioneering ocean-crossing trawlers (R. Beebe) and modern benchmarks like the Fleming 60 Venture. Furthermore, we have integrated the finest hull characteristics from world-renowned designers such as Ed Monk, P. Bray, T. Fexas, and J. Leishman.

1. Structure and resilience

The hull is engineered for maximum structural strength and safety in open seas.

• Solid fiberglass construction featuring over 18 layers of solid laminate.
• Full-length keel reinforced with over 30 layers.
• Three independent watertight compartments.
• Fuel and water tanks are structurally integrated into the hull, significantly increasing overall rigidity.

 

2. Functionality and accessibility

 

These characteristics result in a vessel with superior structural weight. Compared to other yachts in its class, the Alpha 50 LR carries an additional ton of fiberglass reinforcement and a substantial longitudinal keel, contributing directly to its unmatched stability and robustness.

In the semi-displacement boat segment with hulls ranging from 50′ to 55′, Alpha 50 LR outperforms the entire market in terms of construction strength, performance range and autonomy, and hull design (center fuel tanks, full keel, double chine, watertight compartments, and full access to systems and engines).

Yachts such as G Banks, Krogen Exp., and Fleming are vessels with magnificent features and beautiful exterior designs. However, they cannot match Alpha’s strength and advanced hull design (optimized center of buoyancy and gravity location), which enhances her ability to cope with oceans in Beaufort 8 sea conditions. The hull incorporates characteristics inspired by renowned designers Pat Bray and Ed Monk (Tollycraft 67).

The most visible design trademark is the double chine (the second split chine positioned above the waterline, reducing beam sea impact). This is part of Alpha’s philosophy of building the strongest year-round cruising yachts, delivering the feeling of a vessel built to last forever.

Alpha’s hulls are specifically designed to reduce roll and pitch. Her nearly 4-foot draft and, if necessary, lowered mast allow access to bridges and waters that many other 50-foot yachts cannot reach. Aditionally, full walk-around access to engines, systems, and valves ensures ease of maintenance. Moreover, the direct shaft drive provides reliable performance without the inconveniences and complexities associated with pod drives.

The vessel is manufactured and delivered with standard or basic equipment (2 solar panels, electronics, air conditioning, etc.), purposefully omitting complementary equipment that many owners never use. This allows for a price adjustment and offers a direct manufacturer cost. The standard equipment ensures the vessel is ready to begin long-distance voyages with maximum safety and comfort (less equipment means less maintenance).

In the semi-displacement market category, there are no vessels of the same length (50′-52′) that match the spacious access to engines and systems, range, safety, and offshore comfort; with the exception of custom LR (Long Range) vessels built to order, such as the FPB type (S. Dashew) or certain full-displacement models (Nordhavn, Krogen, and Selene).

The vessel also has the advantage of being prepped for the immediate installation of complementary equipment:

• Stabilizers (gyroscopic or hydraulic)

• Splendide Washer/Dryer

• Watermaker

• Second generator/power plant

• Lifting system (crane/davit)

• Climate control systems

With this equipment, the price of the vessel rises to $1’980,000 USD (plus taxes). There is also the option to install twin engines that allow for a 20-knot cruise and a top speed of 26 knots, bringing the price to $2’255,000 USD.

Each model requires approximately eight months for construction. Alpha mandates that all designs maintain completely unobstructed access to electrical installations and plumbing, even when the vessel is ready to sail. The manufacturing of these vessels (custom build) requires additional man-hours. Only two production slots are available per year. Hull number 4 is currently in production.
