Alpha 50 LR

FACTORY PRICE:

$1,475,000 USD

The Alpha 50 LR is a semi-custom yacht built on a rugged, commercial-grade hull, featuring a heavily constructed, full keel with integrated ballast for maximum durability and stability. Designed for long-range cruising, it comfortably maintains speeds of 15–16 knots while offering exceptional seaworthiness.
Defined as a trawler, the Alpha LR 50 hull allows to cruise long distances. At an economical cruise of 8 knots, it results in a range of 2,800 nmi. At 10 knots 1,500 nmi (with standard engine – Cummins Intermitent QSC 8.3 lts @ 493 HP). Commercial hulls are solid glass 50% heavier and thicker.

Alpha features double chines, improving both stability and fuel efficiency.

Wide and safe side aisles.

Longer Keel (like Fleming 55).

Auxiliary platform ready to be expanded.

Engine room with walk-around access.

General information

In the semi-displacement boat segment with hulls ranging from 50′ to 55′, Alpha 50 LR outperforms the entire market in terms of construction strength, performance range and autonomy, and hull design (center fuel tanks, full keel, double chine, watertight compartments, and full access to systems and engines).
Yachts such as G Banks, Krogen Exp., and Fleming are vessels with magnificent features and beautiful exterior designs. However, they cannot match Alpha’s strength and advanced hull design (optimized center of buoyancy and gravity location), which enhances her ability to cope with oceans in Beaufort 8 sea conditions. The hull incorporates characteristics inspired by renowned designers Pat Bray and Ed Monk (Tollycraft 67).
The most visible design trademark is the double chine (the second split chine positioned above the waterline, reducing beam sea impact). This is part of Alpha’s philosophy of building the strongest year-round cruising yachts, delivering the feeling of a vessel built to last forever. “For Alpha, safety and comfort are more important than absolute speed and luxury.” Alpha’s hulls are specifically designed to reduce roll and pitch. Her nearly 4-foot draft and, if necessary, lowered mast allow access to waters that many other 50-foot yachts cannot reach.
The yacht’s design emphasizes function: central fuel tanks combined with a long, heavy keel create a low center of gravity and an optimal center of buoyancy, qualifying her as Class A and prepared to cruise in Beaufort 8 conditions. Full walk-around access to engines, systems, and valves ensures ease of maintenance. The direct shaft drive provides reliable performance without the inconveniences and complexities associated with pod drives.

Here is a brief list of its innovations:

  1. Alpha features a double-chine hull design that enhances both stability and fuel efficiency.
  2. Wider and safer side walks.
  3. Longer keel. Same to Fleming 55.
  4. The tender platform is prepared to be extended.
  5. For inland cruising, the radar mast on the flybridge can be retracted, reducing air draft to just over 11 feet.
  6. Three watertight compartments.
  7. Use of central tanks to keep the right center of buoyancy.
  8. Alpha is prepared to receive additional equipment (stabilizers, hyd. platform, additional units of Air Conditioner, Oil Changer system).
  9. Reinforced steering system
  10. Optional solar panel system.

Areas of design that govern the stability of the vessel in storm seas:

Center of buoyancy

Beam of the vessel

Tankage and location of same

The vertical and horizontal center of gravity

The shape of the hull

Non-watertight openings and where they are located

Longer keel. Same to Fleming 55.

Each model takes approximately eight months to complete. Alpha requires that all designs maintain fully accessible wiring and pipework, even after the yacht is ready to cruise. In many composite hulls, systems are often installed with little regard for long-term access, leaving owners with no option but to cut away portions of the structure for maintenance or repairs.
Hull No. 4 is currently in production.

The builder offers opportunity to acquire a custom design semi-displacement vessel.
